Here at Keylime Consultants we are extremely privileged to work within an industry full of talented and inspirational women. We see every day the leadership and vibrancy that dynamic women at all levels bring to the Cloud HCM sector.

International Women’s Day is a global day (8th March) celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also makes a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The first International Women’s Day took place in 1911, supported by well over 1 million people. Since its inception, IWD promotes different mission themes every year and we are particularly delighted that women in innovation and technology are a theme for 2020.

We are fortunate to work in an industry that recognises the talent and expertise that women bring to workplaces, leadership teams and technology roles. We are certain that the high percentage of women in senior roles in this industry, compared to other sectors of the economy, is what sets it apart and underpins its sustained innovation, growth and success.

Our (somewhat anecdotal) company data over the past 12 months helps evidence this momentum, and the trajectory it shows resonates well with the IWD objective to accelerate gender equality. We are proud to play our small part in that journey.

    • 57% of candidates we’ve placed are women.
    • 52% of our key customers, i.e. the hiring managers we’ve placed with, are women.
    • 73% of the HR functions we support have female Executive Leadership.
    • Average salary of women we’ve placed in the past 12 months is just under £62,000. This compares favourably to the average salary of males we’ve placed over the same period is £58,500 indicating that the sector outperforms other areas of the economy in appointing women into senior roles.

Sadly though, outside of HRIS, there is much work to do with only 12% of the businesses we support having appointed a female CEO.

As an interesting aside, even if we take away the gender segmentation, these sector pay averages really reflect the highly skilled nature of the work conducted in the Cloud HR Tech space. According to ONS data the average London full time salary in 2019 was £37,000, and the average UK full time salary was £26,000 (data source: ONS Data from Gender Pay Gap in the UK: 2019.)

International Women’s Day is showcasing women in senior HR roles this year and we learned a lot about how to embed equality promoting practises from the piece written by Mairéad Nayager, Chief HR Officer, Diageo. Click here to read more.

Likewise, the refreshing TedTalks highlighted by Leadingwomen.biz (see here)
really bring home why continuing to strive to gender balanced board rooms, break down barriers and encourage more women into leadership and senior roles is good for business and society alike. Even though our sector is clearly striving hard, and succeeding in many ways, we all want that momentum to be maintained.

So, all of the above and so much more is why on Sunday 8th March 2020, International Women’s Day 2020, we stand up and raise our glass, (or eco refill water bottle 😉 to all the amazing women in our network. It is a pleasure and privilege to work with you. Your hard work has helped us build our business and you inspire us everyday.

See our #EachForEqual campaign card on our Twitter and LinkedIn pages and of course get in touch if we can help you on your supercharged career journey.
